The first phase of an innovation is risky. Getting financing from a bank in this phase is difficult. Orion does offer this possibility. Both starters vouchers and starters loans are available. Annually, 20 vouchers (subsidies) are available for students, PhD's and recent graduates with an innovative plan for their own company. An independent assessment committee evaluates the plan and the pitch.
This committee decides whether a voucher worth € 2,500 is allocated (with any conditions) or rejected. The money is meant for out-of-pocket expenses for research or preparatory activities of the own company and does not have to be paid back. A format for the application is available. The starters vouchers are only intended for students, PhD students and recent graduates (maximum 3 years ago) of the HAN, ArtEZ, Van Hall Larenstein and Radboud University with a company or a just started company and hardly any turnover. The vouchers are not available for staff members of the knowledge institutions.

Criteria
The assessment committee pays attention to the following criteria when evaluating the plans:
- The idea or plan for the business
- Entrepreneurial qualities (use the E-scan for this)
- Innovativeness of product, service or process
- Technical feasibility (if applicable)
- Market opportunities and earnings model
- Scalability
- Cooperation with the knowledge institution
- Social impact
- The budget for the € 2,500 and a concise financial plan.
Aanvraagprocedure
De beoordelingscommissie komt 4 tot 6 keer per jaar bijeen om voucheraanvragen te beoordelen. Houd er rekening mee dat de voorbereiding van een goede aanvraag enkele maanden in beslag neemt. Neem altijd eerst contact op met de contactpersoon van jouw kennisinstelling (zie hierboven). Ter voorbereiding op de aanvraag bieden we in de week voorafgaand aan de beoordeling een korte Pitch try-out (tips & tricks).
